Since I knew nothing of this Frank (Fassbender) character, his bizarre method of performing and nothing of his music, this film was a stretch for me as I am not a rocker in any way, more an operatic type guy. Take into account the bizarre group which eventually includes a newcomer keyboard player (Domhnall Gleeson) (where did he find that name? ) and I was pretty overwhelmed by it all; dumbfounded to witness Maggie Gylllenhaal as a lunatic especially as I just saw her Golden Globe Nominated performance for 2014, THE HONOURABLE WOMAN, a deadly serious dramatic role in which she shines; the antithesis of these two roles speaks volumes of her talent. This is a film I had to look at as objectively as possible or it would never happen for me. Guess that being about 10 when they were doing their SCHTICK would exclude me from ever having known them, but as a kid I loved rock. Why haven't I ever heard of this motley crew.
