The director Chris Columbus is very strong at staying true to the original Harry Potter books. The Chamber of secrets is scarier, longer and more fun than the original film, but it isn't as memorable or innovative. The style and storytelling remains the same, but to contrast the sense of excitement and elemental lead these HP films follow, Columbus brings more to the table. It's not just in it for the money, the second installment of the Harry Potter saga continues to develop and thoroughly entertain us with the growth of who and what we know. Rewatching The Chamber of Secrets makes me wonder that it could have ended with this film, but the journey continues heartwarmingly.
