Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

IN A NUTSHELL: The Book is amazing, so is the movie because it delivers. It takes the material and delivers the most emotional, visually exciting, and epic Harry Potter movie. But that’s what the book asked for. It doesn’t go beyond that through originality, a strong vision, or a sense for ambition to blow away. The movie only does what the book asks it to do, and it’s dazzling, but there’s not one ounce of ambition or risky artistic license visually. IN PERSPECTIVE: I had confidence, high hopes, and wishes for Yates’ two-part finale vision of the largest cinematic franchise ever. However ultimately, even if this one delivered, this finale didn’t have any movie imagination, just a keen imagination for making money. It doesn't take any risks. That may not be a problem for many people as it should follow the book. But isn't the fun in making movies taking imaginative and ambitious risks with the visual to make it an exciting movie. To me it is. The movie delivers. But that's all. It doesn't go beyond that and deliver something spectacular and masterful. There's a reason it wasn't nominated for best picture. I wonder why? It's not because of high expectations, it's because the movie did what the book asked it to do. Sure, a great adaptation and visual interpretation, but nothing more. Like what Lord of the Rings did. It went out with a bang, but also with a sense of emotion and connection with the audience. There wasn't a lot of reminiscent elements in the conclusion, and to me that's very important in wrapping up a movie franchise. That's what Dark Knight Rises did brilliantly. That's not what Deathly Hallows Part 2 did. Part 1, in hindsight, had some fascinating reminiscent material, which to me was some of the better moments in that boring film. Part 2, just ended the franchise. The twist, however, reminisced and enlightened very important and emotional elements, and delivered the best sequence of the entire film. But in it's conclusion, it didn't do much in that very important area of delivery. Yet, this is still a great ending and a very entertaining movie with high-quality filmmaking. A very, very good movie and combining both parts and watching them together is a treat and definitely an amazing conclusion that to me, if cut an hour shorter taking out a lot of the first part's boring and pointless sequences, would've been a masterful 3-3 1/2 hour movie that would've been an oscar contender for sure. With an extended edition added on to that afterwards. But it is what it is, and this movie alone is just a very good movie. Definitely ramps up the excitement, emotion, and magic. But doesn't conclude the biggest movie franchise ever deservingly like it should.
