    Melvin and Howard

An early Jonathan Demme film that purports to tell of a chance encounter of a young married couple (Paul Le Mat and Mary Steenburgen) with the aged, perhaps senile Howard Hughes. Jason Robards is excellent as the old man, but Mary Steenburgen will blow your mind with a mesmerizing performance that brought her the Best Supporting Oscar of 1980. The film is very entertaining, but one must take the historical facts with a grain of salt.
