It reminded me of the Harry Potter fiasco where they brook the last book into two movies. Part 1 was a dud but part 2 was amazing. However graceful and paced this story now feels with 2 parts, Part 1 is slow-moving and the boring Hunger Games movie from an unenthusiasts point of view. To me, if you haven't read the books it's better because everything comes of as exciting and intriguing in terms of story. The Hunger Games is killer when it seeks to inspire the audience to get up and fight alongside Katniss, that is the point of this movie. The first two movies were very tense and entertaining, the third one, Mockingjay is dramatic. The emotion of the tragedy of the stories current backdrop is brought to the centre fold in this film. The importance of part 1 is it spends time in the world and around the characters who will be even more dramatically integral to part 2. When I first saw Catching Fire a year ago I felt the story and the depth of the world needed more emphasis because I didn't quite feel interested in the tragedy and motivation of the story when the hunger games were actually going on. Anything beyond the games was somewhat vague. What Mockingjay Part 1 does is present the aftermath and concoction of this world's tragic state. Also, the acting is something worth mentioning. When you have a couple of Oscar winners in one room it's pretty riveting. My favourite scene of the movie is when Woody Harrelson's character walks up from the darkness after Katniss was being filmed doing a propaganda speech and spoke the dialogue quite poorly. Woody walks up and claps slowly and says "and that is how a revolution dies." Hilarious. Mockingjay is my personal favourite of the three films so far even though most might disagree with me, there are a few slow moments, but the build-up is great and the vibe of these movies is on a much deeper level now.
