    The Tarnished Angels

The great Douglas Sirk directed this melodrama which teamed Rock Hudson and Robert Stack once more to capitalize on the tremendous success they had two years earlier in WRITTEN ON THE WIND which also starred Dorothy Malone who won a Best Supporting Oscar in the 1956 film as an alcoholic socialite. Malone was simply outstanding! Too bad a part couldn't have been written for Lauren Bacall. That would have brought the entire WIND principal actors together again for one big reunion! Look for a VERY YOUNG TROY DONAHUE in a small part. This feature was good but WRITTEN was exceptional! UNIVERSAL hired the Nobel Prize winning Novelist William Faulkner to write the screenplay. WOW! That must have cost Universal a bundle as Faulkner is the great American Novelist and he won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1950.
