What's so great about this movie? It's one the biggest pieces of garbage I've ever watched in my life. I wanted to watch this movie so bad, I knew there were gonna be musicals, I knew it was very long, but since I watched Dogville last week and felt in love with it, I thought, hey Lars must be great! Wrong!! This movie is so bad, I cannot believe the reviews I'm reading. First of all, I didn't have an "emotional experience" while watching the movie. I was bored to death and blown away by the stupidity I was witnessing. The story is completely ridiculous and simply an insult to both visually impaired people and musicals. I mean, please tell me that there is an "artistic" purpose to why the songs are so horrible! I don't like musicals but I can appreciate a good performance... to be honnest I would rather watch someone vomit that re-watch the horror of the musicals in the "movie". I was not impressed at all with Bjork's performance, she's one of the worst singers of all times and I have to say that she's a better actress than singer. But she's not a good actress either. I really felt like I was watching someone ACT rather than BE the character. Catherine Deneuve was by far, the greatest. I'm still traumatised by the fact that everyone is in love with this thing... (it's not a movie, I don't want to insult cinema).. Maybe if there were no musicals or just decent ones, I would have enjoyed it more... or maybe if Von Trier had cut at least one hour I would have liked it more... I don't know, but when I think about Von Trier, I'll erase this piece of garbage and just think about the beautiful Dogville.
