This is certainly not the best of the three, not even the second-best. It is sadly lacking in dramaturgy. It makes up with some amazing special effects - but that alone isn't enough to save a disjointed story that, rather than focusing on a coherent plot, tries to incorporate too many events. What I liked: When Spidey turns temporarily evil, Tobey Maguire finally gets a chance to abandon those sad blue Frodo-eyes. But then the last 15 minutes are simply embarrassing: The film wants you to shed a tear or two, and I surely gave my best to comply, but there were simply too many people in the audience laughing about the kitschy sunset smooch. All in all: If at all, watch it on the big screen - at least you'll enjoy the computer animations. But better yet :Don't bother, it's not worth it.
