    Click here to show this review.     Not bad but not exceptional. I enjoyed the first movie with Gene Wilder better though. I thought the characterization of Willy Wonka was more interesting in the original - in this version he's more unsure of himself and I didn't like that. Some of the special effects looked weak and that distracted from the movie. There was one element of the original movie that was not included (don't want to spoil it by saying what it was - it involved the everlasting gobsmacker) and I think the movie was weaker for not having it.
