While his alter ego Wade Wilson may not be a hero, Ryan Reynolds certainly deserves a hero's welcome for not only his flawless portrayal of the masked smart ass, but for the years and years of work it took to get this film made the right way. Reynolds reportedly stuck to his guns, insisting that the film keep its edge and its heavy R rating and thus has delivered one of the more outlandishly entertaining super-hero films to date. It all begins with the casting decision. For Reynolds, (like Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark), is truly the ideal choice, you couldn't dream up a better fit. His never-ending string of inappropriate one liners are by far the highlight, making this film, besides perhaps Guardians of the Galaxy, the only super-hero film where sense of humor outshines the action. Of course it isn't really fair to criticize Deadpool for a lack of big action when its budget is less than 60 million, basically a third of what some of the other Marvel films have had at their disposal. These financial constraints makes what the film was able to accomplish action wise even more impressive. Very violent, completely un-PC and more or less hilarious all the way through. A big congratulations to "God's perfect idiot".
