The story is told almost completely from the perspective of J. Edgar's personal life, instead of the political and social forces that influenced the CIA. J. Edgar's character was painted as such a pathetic man in this film, I squirmed in my seat more than once. I didn't like him, or his companion for the entire length of the film and it's hard to watch a movie when you feel that way. Some scenes linger far too long. Leo diCaprio did the most he could with the script he was given but Eastwood should have taken the story in a diff direction.
