The Black Panthers: Vanguard of The Revolution

This is a documentary that resonates to this day with all the seriousness of the movement that started in Oakland California and was a direct confrontation to the police in armed action/fashion. The doc captures the militant movement soul and swagger of that turbulent time. Stanley Nelson's film chronicles the organizations rise with its ongoing problems with added footage of some of the good that came out of this radical movement for deprived areas of major U. S. cities. FBI Director Hoover had to crack down and was seriously involved in what was going to be a racial lock down. Horrendous things happened in this worst of times. Ironic that all of the problems of fifty years ago are still with us in 2015. Nothing has changed. America is not a free and liberated country as most think it is. The injustices and racism keep rising and escalating almost on a daily basis. It is disgraceful that America who long called for the end of Aparthied and boycotted South Africa is yet in a mess with its race relations. Disgusting and pitiful it is to see black groups having to take drastic action against rights that are denied them or being seriously racially profiled.
