One of the main reasons for re-making this film at Warner Brothers was to capitalize on the great star power of Errol Flynn who in 1938 was the #1 idolized star at Warner's Studio. The first filming was from 1930 starring Richard Barthelmess. The 1938 edition is a good flick, but I'm not all that fond of war films. This was a big Flynn hit!
