Though this is labelled romantic comedy, I don't buy into labels too often, for sure, not for this film which is so much more. I liked it so much I re-saw it a month later. Jenna Fischer, Chris Messina (he's so good) and Topher Grace head a cast that also includes Malin Akerman who can get on your nerves as she did in The Heartbreak Kid. This is not an out and out romantic comedy, in my books, but more a love story that encapsulates comedy. Aside the usual love interests and dating which I will not bother with, what makes this a gem of a little movie are a few things, one being to live the life you want, not one with restrictions put on you by others. You must be your very own self. This is essential to be fulfilled and happy. Secondly, amid the riotous street playing of the giant mechanical man who is stuck in neutral, ultimately unable to pay even for the basics of life like BILLS, comes a note of optimism that in the most dire of straights love can truly conquer all bringing fundamental feelings that a veritable partnership is a tonic that can't be beat. Love rules!
