I never had to read the book in high school. So I read it a couple of weeks ago. I didn't like it much. Although the love story was tragic, I don't understand why it's a classic (guess that's why I didn't get very good marks in English) The movie though, is visually stunning and the actors really helped to flesh out the characters. Was a bit disappointed that the Jordan Baker character was not brought out more. DiCaprio made me believe he was a tragic Gatsby and I totally believed Mulligan was a self-absorbed spoiled rich girl with no thoughts about anyone except herself. I did not like the sound track. Modern music in a 20s setting? Wasn't buying it. At all.
