This is more a drama than an action film, although there is a chase scene and shoot-out at the end. Subject matter is kinda sad because it's about intergenerational criminals and I felt sorry for everyone. At one point, the single mom says "I'm a person". I almost felt my heart stop that was so painful. With unstable parents and born into a life of crime, they perpetuate the cycle and it's a NO win cycle - there's always some who go to jail, die, end up addicted, etc. It's just so sad. Nice Affleck's character breaks out and I like that he chose to give a message of hope to people in this film. Acting was good. Plot was a bit formulaic, but I like the twist with robber and victim and sweet that she saw the good in him. I respect the message / overall tone of this film. Their heists aren't shown to glorify crime, but to show what life is like for them, and the desperation they feel.
