Waterloo Bridge from 1940 starring a divine Vivien Leigh and handsome Robert Taylor is a remake of the 1931 Waterloo Bridge starring Mae Clark. The 1940 version is infinitely superior with outstanding performances from the two leads. Mervon Le Roy directs with a very delft hand with gorgeous B & W Cinematography. This story will tug at your heart as it is sadness and loneliness personified. It's a great movie for Miss Leigh following the raging success of Gone With The Wind. Have your Kleenex close by when viewing Waterloo Bridge.
