    Bram Stoker's Dracula

What happened here? This was a film that had so much potential. The costumes, the music, the acting, and the directing talent where all there, but somehow, everything seems to have been spliced together with a battle-axe. At times I found myself really becoming absorbed by this film; then, bang! The storyline digresses into something totally distracting and loses the viewer. The ending could have been so much more romantic, yet it ends as abruptly as a bedroom light switch. The film is debased with useless attempts to sell with sex, when the storyline alone could have done the job, if the filmakers could have just taken some more time to be more profound. Dracula is a mystical and tragic character; he was a warrior with a romantic and violent persona. For God's sake, why did Coppola not elaborate on those qualities? This film could have been so much more. What a shame.
