(If you remember the 1981 original, leave your memories at the door.) Brand is charming and surprisingly touching, Mirren is marvellous, and Gerwig is great, but otherwise it's unremarkable. The story lags badly, something that could have been saved with tighter editing. Kudos to Luis Guzman as Bitterman, who is, as always, wonderful; he can play anything.
