This ursine tale of a female bear (bearess?) and her cubs as they undertake a perilous journey to the salmon lakes and rivers is beautifully told. Entertainment Weekly called this a"cutefest". But that is a narrow labelling. The dangers faced by the family include other alpha males (who do feed on cubs)and a menacing timber wolf. There is always the possibility the female may not be able to load-up enough fish protein to allow her and her cubs (still nursing) to survive the winter hibernation. Beautifully filmed-with state of the art technology - this is a wonderful film for those audience members who are any where from 6 to 106. I loved it!
