For those who are interested in the story behind the famous/infamous Milgram obedience investigations, the first half of the film provides a good recounting of the design and operation of the experiments. However, I found Sarsgaard's interpretation of Stanley Milgard as a mumbling melancholic, breaking the fourth wall, with his frequent addresses to the audience tiresome. The postmodernism as evidenced by the pachyderm, the kid with the green face and the occasional use of false backdrops-was annoying and counterproductive. Unfortunately, Wynona Ryder was little-used in the thankless role of the wife and the tv program with "William Shatner" and "Ossie Davis" was a puzzling inclusion. The movie was dramatically flat in comparison to this year's earlier Stanford Prison Experiment. This movie is only of slight interest to the general audience.
