The kind of powerful director Clint Eastwood has developed into just boggles the mind for me. Of all the great films I've seen Clint star in or direct, this is easily in my top handful. The story deals with the reality of human beings facing their mortality, prejudices and decisions about what matters most in life. The depth of Clint's character is inspiring and thought provoking. His character is so well directed and acted that so often very little needs to be said for the viewer to grasp a much deeper understanding of his life and the world as he sees it merely by looking into his eyes. The story is funny quite often, heart warming just as often and breathtaking at its best moments. Nothing is so obvious as to let the movie fall into the predictable category. And in case, like me, you were concerned about this being a silly 'old man' vs the world type of unrealistic macho fest, don't be because it isn't. Clint is only as dangerous as I suspect he might still be at his old age. He is after all still a pretty big and tough looking old dude, but the movie doesn't take that to the point of silliness. An absolute must see!!
