Now, overall, I'm not a huge fan of Adam Sandler movies on the whole. I did love Punch Drunk Love, Happy Gilmore and 50 First Dates, every one of those, very much, even the Wedding Singer, however, there are at least as many Sandler movies that fall into the 'too childish' to be funny for me category. This includes his Saturday Night Live days and bits. I guess, where Sandler is concerned, I'm conflicted because I still generally like him quite a bit. This Happy Madison Production though was actually fairly intelligently written, pretty funny, and quite charming. I also liked the way it addressed the issues of tolerance with regard to homosexuality, not too preachy so as to grate on me, yet while certainly quite idealistic, it was a light-hearted fairy tale, even if an overly simplistic take on the social issues. James was funny, as I usually find him, it was well directed and Jessica Biel was as lovely and lovable as ever. Sandler, as usual, when equipped with a decent script was very charming and pretty darned funny. Certainly worth watching.
