With Clark Terry's advanced age and physical maladies, and with the challenges his current protégé faces daily, this film could have turned out to be a sobbing, weeping soap opera. No way! I cannot imagine anyone being displeased after spending 85 minutes in the comfort of this documentary. Novice director Alan Hicks deals primarily with the man, and you will find Clark Terry a man that can be loved, admired and appreciated... all at the same time. A fine film and a fine tribute to a man you probably never heard of.
