Like the rating (6) says, not bad, could be better. First, it's really not a comedy. It's a drama, and as any drama is apt to have, there are some amusing, if not hilarious bits in it. I personally found the whole bird watching craze as it's portrayed in this movie, just a bit ridiculous, particularly a contest that is honor based in scoring. However, there are some nice messages in this movie and I found the characters a 'little' bit interesting. Certainly, this isn't a glowing report, but with a movie with Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson, they really did miss the mark in terms of casting. It's not that these guys couldn't do an adequate job in a drama (I felt they did), it's that the world expects, especially with all three of these guys together in a movie, some wild and crazy comedy, and that is something you won't find in it. Personally I liked it, but I'd have a hard time recommending it to most folks.
