    The Two Faces of January

Based on a Patricia Highsmith novel, this movie does not hold a candle to her adaptation of Strangers on a Train by Hitchcock. However, similar themes are explored here,. ie, amorality and the false facades that some people use to cover up their true intent. The movie starts very strong when a murder occurs and the trio of leads (Mortensen, Isaac and Dunst) are forced to take it on the lam. What follows is the suspense generated by the interactions between the three. Who in fact is conning who? The scenery, cinematography, costuming are superb. But the story does disintegrate a bit in the end. Yet, still worthwhile.
