Standard action movie formula with absolutely no surprises. Geez I think I just gave away the story line. If they had added a few more silly parts it would have been a good spoof movie, like raiders of the arc or recent mummy movies. Had they added a few more main character tragedies then it would have been gripping. But the director couldn't make up his mind I guess. The special affects are of course spectacular and you find yourself watching scenes and asking yourself how they produced the effect. If you still want to see it on the big screen I suggest beforehand that you and your friends write down a check list of predictions for the movie, and after the movie see who had the most correct answers and in the correct order... OR make up a list of things that will NOT happen in a disaster movie and see if any are not included in this action flick. Or have an over/under for tiem between disasters. Maybe this movie is simply predicting that 2012 is the end of theater movies as we know them. Everyone will simply stay home and watch them on a flat screen. Aside from the movie I am always left to wonder about the popcorn thing. Why is that you can buy a HUGE popcorn and HUGE drink that is refillable? Why not simply cut the size and price in half. I find myself leaving the theater and loading up on a refill of popcorn and a drink for the ride home... It's darn right nutty...
