This would only appeal to viewers under the age of 16. It is mostly sight gas, prat falls- your basic slap-stick stuff with a touch of potty-mouth. Jonah Hill was a co-writer and producer of the film. One can see the influence of the Simpsons in his gag efforts. I just could not get my head around Tatum posing as a high school kid when in fact he turns 32 this month! I don't see how this obvious anachronism would be funny enough to cast him in the movie. Surely out there is an actor who looks young and muscular that would fill the spot. You don't need a star actor in this type of film. The only highlight for me was a cameo appearance by a superstar at the end but here it was overdone. Most of the action scenes appeared contrived and not convincing. The movie was likely shot in a day or two in a studio back lot. The various humour attempts weren't over the top except perhaps for the one singular groin shot (which are standard for these types of movies a la Homer Simpson) Wait of the rental. This one fell short for me, but not surprisingly, my 14 year-old loved it.
