    Brooklyn

This is a simple but beautiful story set in the 1950’s which so many families of European descent experienced in their migration to America. The backbone of America was built by such Europeans – the Irish, Italians, etc... The movie is about the love of spouse, neighbour, family, home, country, and God. Great performances by all the actors - Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Jim Broadbent, etc… The costume, makeup, and set design add to the richness of this film. The cinematography is breathtaking, particularly the shots taken in Ireland. This movie does a phenomenal job in making you feel that you are transported back in time to the 1950s to New York City, Ireland, travelling across the Atlantic Ocean, falling in love, etc… So wonderful.
