I absolutely loved Enrico IV ( Henry IV), an Italian drama from 1984 based on the great play by Nobel Laureate for Literature, Luigi Pirandello, which I studied as an undergraduate at U of T. Marcello Mastroiani and Claudia Cardinale star in this stark adaptation dealing with one of Pirandello's favourite themes: ILLUSION vs. REALITY. A man thinks he's King Henry IV and those around him help foster this illusion of being the monarch! I guess the main message Pirandello and the film impart to us is: IT IS SO IF YOU THINK IT IS SO! ( something is real if indeed you believe in it's reality!)
