Eastwood is one of my favourite directors, but he disappoints with this one unfortunately. Though the film starts out about near-death-experiences, but ultimately concludes like it was instead about the concept of destiny. The pace is ploddingly slow and painful, and it allows each scene eons to hit us over the head with its repetitive messages. The high calibre cast does redeem it somewhat with their performances, but even there we have a weakness. The boys who play the Jason/Markus twins are just not that convincing, with very poor dialogue delivery and emoting most times. First time I've seen such a bad miscast in an Eastwood flick. Wait for it on video, and go watch Mystic River, Unforgiven or Changeling again in the meanwhile.
