With the Oscars only a couple of days away, the two most highly rated contenders have an unusual connection... both celebrate movies from long ago! 'Hugo' included the story of a silent film director/actor and actually showed us clips from some early, and famous, films. 'The Artist' on the other hand was presented as a film directly from that era. Considering that Woody Allen's protagonist in 'Midnight in Paris' loved the 1920's and his newest amour wanted to retreat to the Lumiere brothers' epoch, it seems to be a sweep. Fortunately for us, we can learn about these things without actually time travelling. Oh yes, the movie. Deserves the kudos.
