I saw the film on a flight, so any big screen wow factor wasn't there. Tom Cruise can act, but isn't always prudent in picking roles. He's 50/50 with me, but I thought he was viable here. I've heard of Jack Reacher, but don't read much American serial fiction. Overall, the casting works. Werner Herzog is very good as the darker entity. The ensemble actors work well in their roles. Rosamund Pike can do very little wrong in my book, fine performance. Barney's Version confirmed her acting chops. She's a "desert island" woman in my opinion. Her American accent was not very localized. I was just in Pennsylvania, and her take is about spot on. Good flick, fun, up tempo, and a satisfying conclusion, if not fully unexpected.
