This was a "Mission Impossible" movie. Put Tom Cruise in the lead role and that's what you've got. All in all, not a believable film like the other Jack Ryan movies (Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games) but was an action pumped movie with a naive wife-suddenly a spy-goofy plot addition part that made no real sense at all and a James Bond type villain that never follows through with his suspicions and lets the lead character do whatever until he's subdued. Peculiar plot with a purely "for entertainment" feel that drains away any real connection to Tom Clancy's original character he developed and is the prequel for the other two movies which doesn't meld at all. Still a pretty good action movie but lacking in depth.
