While Jurassic World presents many problems with its script, it has many things going for it that make it an easy movie to recommend, mainly action, humor, excitement, and dinosaurs; basically, what was promised in the trailers. As a fan of the original Jurassic Park (not so much the two sequels), I was able to appreciate many of the references to the first movie. I may not have been around back in 1993, but I was still overcome with nostalgia while watching Jurassic World, particularly when John Williams' iconic score is playing behind all the wondrous shots of, well, dinosaurs! Being the type of film that it is (a monster movie featuring dinosaurs as the "monsters"), Jurassic World does succumb to a few of the clichés of the genre: cheesy dialogue and empty plot points are found abundantly throughout the film. However, the positives do outweigh the negatives, and I would by lying if I said I didn't have a blast watching this movie. It's more than a guilty pleasure, as there are truly some moments that are well-done, particularly the ability to create moments of tension, followed immediately by fun and humor. While it does get violent (nothing you haven't seen before in Jurassic Park), kids are going to have a blast watching this movie, and there is also enough visual effects splendor and nostalgia for adults to enjoy themselves too.
