OMG!!! This is such a bewildering and shocking film of harsh reality right at the end of WW II. I was quite unnerved by by the whole subject matter, but never turned off in anyway. As a Catholic, the situation is hard to fathom but not in light of all the atrocities that occurred to so many during WW II including the Benedictine Nuns with their very strict vows and holy rituals. The theme can be taken as a universal one as faith and credence are put to a mighty test in a bitter, wounded world devoid of any real humanity.
