This movie doesn't take much from the original TV series... In a way that's good... it's fresh and not hokey, but also bad because it kinda floats out there without a deeper context and becomes just another flashy, shallow cool-cop-shoot'em up. Strangely, very little of the important action seems to be set in Miami. However, it is stylish and flashy, the action scenes are fairly gripping and there are a few bursts of grim humour that made me laugh. If you want a cops'n'badguys shooting it up movie that's really thoughtful and well-done, go rent Heat. Otherwise just turn off your brain and enjoy the pretty pictures and the air conditioning.
