It's unbelievable that 2014 is the 30th anniversary of enigmatic Prince's PURPLE RAIN. It is so for several reasons. First of all it's unbelievable that Prince was able to get his label to fund him as an actor since he had no experience whatever for this big budget film. Prince must have had the gift of gab/speech when it counts as he's always been such a quiet type personality. It's unbelievable that Purple Rain won the ACADEMY AWARD as BEST MUSICAL SCORE for 1984 so one must refer to Prince as OSCAR singing legend his highness, Prince. It's basically a bio type film as an aspiring singer enters the musical world and encounters the usual problems but some of his own making. All this is well and good, but it must be remembered, unbelievable, that Prince's Album for Purple Rain was one giant, humongous money maker, probably the best that Prince has ever recorded. Lastly, it's unbelievable that PRINCE is now in his late 50's! WOE! The world is getting old! Unbelievable as well... well not really, PURPLE RAIN is a film that is VERY, VERY dated as everything Prince did in and with that movie is now so passé that it just doesn't stand the test of time, no one really having any interest in it. With a 30th Anniversary one would think that labels and the media would have done more to celebrate this milestone. Wonder how Prince took all this neglect!
