Coming during the 1950's through Hitchcock's great creative period, (The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo, North by North West, Psycho plus more) Rear Window is a masterpiece in every sense of the word showing to perfection Hitchcock's voyeuristic nature. The whole setting of the film is ingenious in this 'whodunit'. We know full well who the culprit is yet Hitch is able to infuse the piece with mystery, suspense and danger as his deft hand alone knew how. The camera work is superlative in this flick and adds a whole feeling of actually being there. James Stewart is the star but kudos go to Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter and Raymond Burr in perhaps his best known movie role.
