I generally avoid so called faith based movies so I decided that this movie could be an exception and gave it a try. I confess that I also enjoy Joseph Fiennes as an actor and was curious as to how he would do. That said, the movie is genuinely good and was very faithful to the Roman culture and religion. I would have given the movie a 9 or 10 but for one very major flaw... the movie presented Mary Magdalene as a prostitute. All major religious scholars representing major factions of Christianity agree she was a troubled woman, healed by Yesuha who became a devout follower. Why then present her as a prostitute in 2016. Even the Catholic Church which originally demonized her admitted to the mistake. Too bad, took away from a really good movie. As a male, I am offended that woman can still not be presented as powerful human beings rather than sin filled sexual beings.
