A surprising backstory re the author of Mary Poppins, engages you with dreamers, life drama, superb comedy, heartache, redemption, magic and perseverance. It is a stellar piece of work with an outstanding cast, beautiful cinematography, moving scores and a well written script. It is not for the little ones as was the original Mary Poppins but it did bring back memories of another Disney great and my youngest daughter, continually, requesting me to sing those songs with her. It is a movie about family and everything that shapes us. It never ceases to amaze me how many wonderful real stories can be found and told on the big screen; so much I did not know. It is a touching film in so many ways and very interesting to watch the settings and the way film production was done in the days of the 60's. Travers, (the author of Mary Poppins) put magic into her book despite... and Disney brought it to the big screen with more magic. It's something we all must learn... to never lose the child in us.
