Skyfall

My expectations were high after I had read in La Presse that this might be the greatest James Bond yet. It might not be the greatest but it comes very close. The only thing that I found was missing somewhat was the fine humor of yesteryear James Bond (the Sean Connery years especially) Ever since Craig appeared, the humor got lost somewhere. The upside is that Craig is more brutal, more animal, visceral and emotional and that makes for the finest action scenes ever. The car and motorcycle chase was one of the best I've ever seen. The filmography was faultless almost equaling the best of what Ridley Scott can do. Speaking of Ridley Scott, did anybody have flashbacks of Blade Runner in the luxurious Singapore highrise scene? My friend and I sure did. One more thing: Javier Bardem is exquisite as a villain. In fact, he trounces every other actor and actress in this movie and not by a small margin. This is definitely an Oscar worthy performance. He reminded me very much of The Joker and how Heath Ledger played it. Hats off to Dame Judi Dench who made an excellent M through the years. Let's see the interaction between Fiennes and Craig now. It might not be an easy cooperation which should make for very interesting scenes between M and Bond in the future.
