    St. Vincent

One cannot go wrong attending a movie where Bill Murray does his curmugeonly crab act- with -a -heart -of -gold -persona. Considerable humour abounds in this fine dramedy and the acting by adorable Jaeden Lebeher and the talented Melissa McCarthy is sublime. The marvelous Naomi Watts steals scenes as a pregnant Russian stripper/lady of the night who provides a great comedic moment when she appears on stage dancing with her swollen belly. Too bad there was not more of her character. Embedded within the comedy was the sobering grim facts of adult living. Eg. McCarthy attempting to juggle a new job with child rearing while trying to avoid her toxic ex who attempts an unappreciated bid for child custody. Murray appears as a somewhat questionable role model for the boy. The film does slip dangerously close into complete sappiness but overall what we have is a very enjoyable movie.
