Intriguing and educational film about the financial housing market crisis of 2007–2008, which triggered an economic downturn in the US. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis, it is amazing, but not surprising, to see the crazy level of corruption and greed in banking and the corporate world in general. This is a well-produced and well-directed film. Excellent performances by Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, and the rest of the cast. While it is repulsing to see how ugly the banking and the corporate world are – it is equally horrible to see how people can take advantage and make huge amounts of money by hedging, shorting, etc…. without really producing anything or adding anything of value to society. As much as the film shows the dark world of banking and finance, it does unfortunately also glamourize those individuals that bet against the system. Nevertheless, this is a remarkable and eye-opening movie…
