This imaginative, autobiographical film is one of Jodorowsky's most accessible, replete with allegory, symbolism and imagery both grotesque and at times, gorgeous. The main character, Jaime ( portrayed by Jodorowsky's son, Brontis ) experiences a journey of awareness as he encounters many and various groups religious and political (from fascist to fundamentalist to anarchist) All this is presented with fantastic visuals and diverse colorful and repulsive characters. The movie is Felliniesque and has been compared to Amarcord. This is a near masterpiece. Also recommended is Jodorowsky's Dune, a documentary concerning the film maker's efforts to produce the ultimate version of the sci-fi classic, Dune.
