    The Farmer's Daughter

A surprisingly great entry from 1947 with Loretta Young upsetting the Best Actress proceedings of the 1947 Oscars. From the dark horse she swept to the Oscar in a year that supposedly would have seen Rosalind Russell winning for the tragedy "Mourning Becomes Electra.' The film is more or less a light weight comedy, but it has great charm and sophistication. Loretta would again be nominated in 1949 for the charming 'Come to the Stable.' She would become the first major Hollywood Actress to transition to the new medium of television and in the process win many Emmy Awards.
