The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

With all the hype for this movie, one would have expected it to be the greatest movie in history. I think the producers spent more money on the ads than they did on the movie. To be sure, this Hunger Games was better than the first movie in the series in the sense that the violence was not so disturbing. But frankly the plot was silly. If the president didn't like Katniss Evideen, he could have killed her at any time. But one had to suspend belief to believe that a man as powerful and as brutal as President Snow would allow Evideen to live. And what's the big deal about Katniss anyway aside from the fact she is attractive? She does nothing that would inspire anyone. Definitely not leader material and yet the whole story is built around how special she is. I didn't see that. After her performance in Silver Lining, I expect more from Jennifer Lawrence but all she did was look pretty. Not that I mind that but anyone could have done that. Of course, one should not expect great acting in an action movie. And this movie certainly lived up to that expectation. It was all very silly.
