The Lobster is a very complex macabre drama that is wickedly humorous at times. At first I had thought what have I got myself into? But as the film progressed I started equating it to an Ancient Greek Tragedy... that was being played out in modern times. The premise of the film... single people are sent off to a remote Hotel where they must find mates within 45 days or risk being turned onto an animal of their own choosing. It is a most unusual love story of profound tenderness and originality. The two leads Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz were exceptional in their roles. It is not a movie that will appease all viewers taste. But I certainly found it satisfying.
