I guess that Scorcese was trying to capture the excesses of the time, but all the characters just seemed to be overacting the entire movie. Not one of DiCaprio's best roles. Same for Jonah Hill. So typical of Scorcese; grandiose; just not overly entertaining. He could have left at least a half hour of this overly indulgent movie on the cutting room floor and the audience would have been all the better for it.
