I'll mirror the sentiment often expressed here, this film works. Significant button pusher! Saw it in very full house, with yes a more mature audience. First of all this is well made, it's attractive, genuine, stylistic, conveys its various era's with aplomb. Flows effortlessly, and wins favour of the viewer to the characters plight. Helen Mirren is top drawer here, even by her lofty standards. Ryan Reynolds is quite good, surely made the role his own and the chemistry with Dame Helen works. Charles Dance, a nice touch, affably menacing. Daniel Bruhl again very good, subtle but significant. Tatiana Maslany acquits herself very well, nice job in a major almost co-leading role. The inclusions of Jonathon Pryce and Elizabeth McGovern resonate appropriately to the audience this film attracts. Casting was a cut above throughout. Simon Curtis' touch is fine, and hopefully he'll get more scripts that appeal to him. Woman in Gold will endure, it has classic potential. I fear it is a bit off schedule for luring nominations, but it deserves many. Any participant should be proud of association.
